Community Corner

Crop Walk

Kingswood is proud to be the host site this year for the annual Northwest Community CROP Walk. Kingswood members have always been active particpants in this walk, and this year we won't have to walk far to get to the site! This year's walk is on Sunday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting. Kingswood's food pantry shares proceeds with four other local organizations. CROP began in 1947, as an outreach from Church World Service. Today CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) is part of interfaith hunger education and fundraising events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by 21 CWS/CROP regional offices across the U.S. Church World Service. It is a cooperative ministry of 35 Protestant, Orthodox, and Anglican denominations providing sustainable self-help and development, disaster relief, and refugee assistance in some 80 countries. If you'd like to walk or volunteer at this year's walk, contact Don Baraglia at 630-530-8715.
