Tales of Joy and Tradition—Hasidic Teachings and Stories

Sundays from 10:30-11:15am
Early in the 18th century, the legendary holy man and teacher, Rabbi Israel Ba’al Shem Tov, launched a spiritual movement in Eastern Europe known as Hasidism. The Hasidic movement thrived on parables and stories promulgating joy, the potential for personal transformation, aspirations of the Divine and the infusion of daily life with music, dancing and loving exultation—and there is no Jewish institution today that has not been
affected by Hasidism (Wrapped in Holy Flame, Reb Schacter-Shalom). In this class we will explore the history, teachings and stories of some of the most important Hasidic Rabbis and their students. This is free for CBA members. For non CBA members the cost is $18 for the series. This is class is taught by Rabbi Bellows.
