Spirituality Retreat: Joy and Liberation

Temple Chai is proud to sponsor Rabbi Jordan Bendat-Appell and the Institute for Jewish Spirituality.

Yitziat Mitzrayim: The Spiritual Practice of Liberation.

http://www.templechai.org/programs/special/

Each year during Passover, we tell the story of the Exodus from Egypt (Yitziat Mitzrayim) our foundational narrative both as a people and as individuals. The Exodus speaks directly to our lived experiences; how we move from all forms of enclavement, constriction and narrowness to the midbar/wilderness - a place of openness, expansiveness, and revelation. Our liberation moves us toward responsiveness, duty, and ongoing practice.

On this retreat, we will study the internal and external spiritual dynamics of Yitziat Mitzrayim and then into our daily lives by engaging in the Jewish practices of meditation, text study, Shabbat, and prayer. There will be opportunities for yoga and contemplative walks along the open, sandy beaches of Lake Michigan and the beautiful woods and trails of Illinois Beach State Park.
