Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon to Attend Avon Township Democrats Candidate Forum

The Avon Township Democrats are pleased to announce that current Lieutenant Governor, Sheila Simon, will be joining us for our Avon Township Democrats Candidate Forum to be held this Saturday, January 18, 2014. The event will be held at theAmerican Legion Post at 111 East Main Street in Round Lake IL at 10 am. Sheila is running for the Illinois State Comptroller office in 2014.

Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon offers a lifetime and legacy of public service. She is a lawyer, teacher and mother of two college-age daughters.

Her record includes four years as a Jackson County prosecutor fighting crime, a decade as a Southern Illinois University law professor teaching young legal minds, and participation in the Illinois Reform Commission, which aimed to restore ethics and trust in government.

As Lieutenant Governor, Simon is the second highest executive officer in Illinois, and her mission is to make government more accountable, accessible and transparent for the taxpayers of Illinois.

The Avon Township Democrats organization is honored to have her attend their first event for the 2014 election year.

Democratic candidates from all of the offices that will be on the ballots in the Avon Township area were invited to attend. We are still getting confirmations on a daily basis so the actual roster of candidates may change after this press release. Confirmed, as of the time of this press release, attending the forum:
