Buffalo Grove to Host District 214 2013 Symphonic Band Festival

     District 214 will present a Symphonic Band Festival on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m.  Buffalo Grove High School will be the host site of the concert, featuring symphonic bands from Buffalo Grove, John Hersey, and Wheeling High Schools.


     The Buffalo Grove concert will feature guest conductor Dr. Richard Mark Heidel, Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music in the School of Music at the University of Iowa.  Dr. Heidel conducts the Symphony Band, teaches graduate courses in conducting and wind band literature, guides the graduate band-conducting program, and oversees the University of Iowa band program. He has directed ensembles all over the country and in the United Kingdom, has won awards for teaching, is a distinguished member of many professional music affiliations, and maintains a busy schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician.   


     Band directors from the performing schools at the BGHS concert are the following: Ed Jacobi (Buffalo Grove); Scott Casagrande (Hersey), and Brian Logan (Wheeling).
