COMMUNITY HOLOCAUST REMEMBERANCE DAY

A community wide Yom HaShoah Service for Holocaust Rememberance Day will be  held at Congregation Beth Judea (Il. Rt. 83 at Hilltop Road, Long Grove, Illinois) on April 27, 2014, at 7 p.m. featuring speaker Debbi Green.  Ms. Green is part of the second generation, the children of Holocaust survivors. Ms. Green's mother, Hilda Stern, left Germany in 1939 with her family on the St. Louis, the ship denied entry to Cuba.  Mrs. Stern was later interned at Thereisendstadt.  Ms. Green will tell her mother's story and share some of the experiences of growing up as a member of the second generation.
