Affordable Care Act 101

The Affordable Care Act allows for new provisions for healthcare in Illinois, and allows for states to create a Health Insurance Marketplace. Beginning October 1, Illinois residents can buy insurance through the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace, an online shopping site to compare and review a wide range of health insurance plans. Giovanni Gomez, Regional Coordinator of Outreach and Consumer Education, for the Illinois Health Insurance Marketplace and Office of Governor Pat Quinn, explains the Affordable Care Act, who qualifies for the financial subsidies, and how you can purchase quality insurance plans from the Marketplace.
