Schneider Challenger’s Petitions Questioned
Complaint filed with election board to remove Arlene Hickory from ballot.
Petitions of a Lake Bluff woman who hopes to take on Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) in the March 18 primary for the Democratic nomination to represent the 10th Congressional District in the House of Representatives were challenged today in a complaint filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Arlene Hickory of Lake Bluff filed nominating petitions Dec. 2 to challenge Schneider but she will not have to overcome a complaint filed with the election board by Peter Couvall of Waukegan.
Couvall contends though Hickory filed more than the required 788 signatures on her petitions, the number of people signing who are actually registered 10th District voters is less than the necessary amount.

The Illinois State Board of Elections now awaits a response from Hickory and should make its decision early next year.
The Democratic primary winner will face former Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) in the Nov. 4 general election. Dold is unopposed in the Republican primary. Schneider defeated Dold in a narrow contest last year.
