UPDATED: Storms Sweep Through Town, Knock Out Power

Storm watches remain in effect until early afternoon.

The storm took down branches and entire trees across the area. Fallen branches and debris litter streets throughout Buffalo Grove. A large tree in front of toppled in the storm.

Traffic signals remain out on Dundee Road at Weidner and Schoenbeck roads.

Residents report being without power at Arlington Heights Road and Route 83 and at Aptakisic Road and Route 83. A Buffalo Grove Patch Twitter follower reports that the Doubletree subdivision near the Prairie View train station is also in the dark.

The area remains under storm watch today (Monday), after severe storms dumped heavy rain on the region, knocking out electricity in some areas this morning.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until noon in Cook County and a flood warning is in place until 1 p.m. for Cook and Lake counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Buffalo Grove Patch Facebook fans across the village reported that they were still without power around 9 a.m. Affected areas include the “old Buffalo Grove” neighborhood near the Alcott Center, the east side of Long Grove, including traffic signals, and the west side of Wheeling, around Schoenbeck Road.

Others said their power was out for only seconds before it was restored.
