Monday Night Power Outage Explained

Power was out for about three hours Jan. 16 in parts of Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and Vernon Township.

About 400 ComEd customers lost power Monday night due to a fault in an underground power line. 

Power was out for about three hours, beginning at 7 p.m., in areas of Buffalo Grove, Long Grove and Vernon Township, a ComEd spokeswoman said.

The outage blacked out the intersection of Lake-Cook and Buffalo Grove roads and traffic on Lake-Cook Road backed up almost immediately due to the four-way stop.

Electricity was restored around 10 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
