President Confirms: Osama Bin Laden is Dead

Barack Obama announced Sunday night that "justice has been done."

President Barack Obama confirmed tonight (Sunday) that Osama bin Laden was killed during a U.S. operation in Pakistan.

The leader of al-Qaida, considered the top enemy of the United States, had alluded captors since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

In his announcement to the nation, Obama said that the U.S. received a possible lead months ago as to bin Laden's whereabouts in Pakistan.

“Finally, last week, I determined that we had enough intelligence to take action," Obama said.

The president said that no Americans were harmed in the operation.

“After a fire-fight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body,” he said.
