Legislative Breakfast to Address Library Issues

The Illinois Library Association's annual event will take place Feb. 18 at the Arboretum Club.

The Vernon Area Public Library will co-host the 23rd annual Presidents’ Day Library Legislative Breakfast Feb. 18 at the Arboretum Club.

Organized by the Illinois Library Association (ILA), this annual event brings more than 100 library representatives together with the legislative leadership for the north and northwest suburbs to discuss issues affecting local libraries.

Among the issues expected to be discussed with lawmakers are the impact of the continuing budget crisis on Illinois libraries, as well as significant challenges to intellectual freedom and the ongoing effort to reform state and local pension programs. The breakfast provides an opportunity for the library community and elected officials to meet and share.
