Indian Trails Library Director Resigns

David Seleb has accepted a new position after a little more than a year at Indian Trails.

Indian Trails Public Library is searching for a new director following the resignation of David Seleb.

Seleb has led the library since November 2011. He will leave his post April 24 to become the executive director of the Oak Park Library, Indian Trails officials announced Thursday.

While at Indian Trails, Seleb was instrumental in completing a strategic planning process; enhancing customer services, programs, and technology for members; opening a new branch facility in Prospect Heights; and streamlining the library’s management team and other staff positions.

“Although we are sad to see David leave, we understand that this is a tremendous professional opportunity for him,” Library Board President Walter Salganik said. “The board of trustees is grateful for the many positive changes he made to the library and is confident that our management staff will continue on the path of growth and innovation he has established at Indian Trails.”

Salganik said he anticipates that the board will hire an interim director and that the process to obtain a new director will be completed within six months.

Seleb previously served as director of the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District for four years. He was hired by Indian Trails to replace Tom Simiele who resigned in 2011 after about a year and a half at the library's helm.
