Why Go: The whole family will enjoy this high-spirited musical performed by students.

Where/When: , 1950 N. Highway 45, Libertyville; 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go: Vendors, games, food, entertainment and raffles. Free and open to all. Sponsored by the Grayslake Area Chamber of Commerce.

Pricing: Free admission

 

Where/When: ; 7 - 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30; 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 1.

Why Go: Experience the classic tale Number the Stars by Lois Lowry that tells the incredible story of the rescue of the Jews in Denmark during World War II. Presented by Big Deal Productions and performed by talented, young, local actors ages 11 - 20 years old. The whole family will enjoy this production.

Pricing: $10 in advance; $12 at the door

 

 Where/When: Barnes and Noble, 920 Milwaukee Ave., Lincolnshire; 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go: Thirty veterans from World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars will share their stories during this book fair. Money raised will go to Honor Flight Chicago, which flies veterans to Washington, D.C. to be honored for their service. During the fair, students from Stevenson High School will read to children, kids can check out fire trucks and get tattoos. The Stevenson High School orchestra will also perform.

Where/When: ; 2  - 3:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 30.

Why Go: Bring the whole family to the library for storytime, make a craft, play some games, have a snack and take home a goody bag.

Where/When:, 600 Farrington Dr., Buffalo Grove; 8 - 11 a.m., Sunday, May 1.

Why Go: District 102 PTO and District 102 Wellness Committee are sponsoring a 5K Walk/Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk along neighborhood streets. T-shirts and refreshments. Proceeds go to D102 Basic Programs that promote health and safety for children and their families. This is a great family event.

Pricing: $30 per participant for the 5K; $12 per participant for the 1 Mile; $45 per family for the 1 Mile

Where/When: , J Theatre, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine; 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 22 and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go: ArtReach Educational Theatre presents this musical performed by professional actors and children from the Palatine community. Great family entertainment.
