Why Go: Women in Need Growing Stronger hosts this fundraiser to help victims of domestic violence. Sample international cuisine prepared by top chefs. There will be a boutique with specialty items, wine tasting, cooking demonstrations, auction and raffle.

Why Go: Steak Fry and Frank Sinatra Tribute Concert sponsored by SAL Squadron 690 and Auxiliary Unit 690. Funds raised will go to Legion Family Charities.

Pricing: $17 includes 12 ounce steak, grilled onions, baked potato, salad, rolls, buttered corn and dessert. Full bar available.

Where/When: Chicago Marriott Northwest, 4800 Hoffman Blvd., Hoffman Estates; 6 p.m. - 12 a.m., Saturday, April 30.

Why Go: Cocktails and dinner, auctions and raffles, live entertainment. Proceeds will benefit PHD's professional counseling and support services and educational outreach prevention programs.

Why Go: Rootsy singer-songwriter Edwin McCain performs live. Hear his emotional ballads like "I'll Be" and "I Could Not Ask For More". Bar and kitchen will be open.

Why Go: Support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. The walk begins at 9 a.m.

Why Go: District 102 PTO and District 102 Wellness Committee are sponsoring a 5K Walk/Run and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk along neighborhood streets. T-shirts and refreshments. Proceeds go to D102 Basic Programs that promote health and safety for children and their families. This is a great family event.

Pricing: $30 per participant for the 5K; $12 per participant for the 1 Mile; $45 per family for the 1 Mile

Where/When: , Performing Arts Center, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine; 3 p.m., Sunday, May 1.

Why Go: The Festival Chorus will perform with a professional orchestra and soloists.

Pricing: $10 for Harper students, faculty, staff and seniors; $12 for other students; $15 for general admission; free for children 12 and under.
