Get Out: Gospel Music, Cooking Contest

Where/When: in Grayslake; 8 a.m. -  10 a.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 29, 30 and 31.

Why Go: The Lake County Fair features fun and entertainment for the whole family including a stilt walker and magician, live music, expo center displays, talent shows, bingo, a petting zoo, queen pageants, livestock barns, demolition derby, pro motocross, horse shows, the radio disney road crew, a banana derby, a professional rodeo, carnival rides, truck and tractor pulls, an AG expo, 4-H exhibits, funpalooza stage, livestock auction, beer garden and fair and specialty food. Where/When: Greenbelt Forest Preserve, North Chicago; 3 - 7 p.mm., July 31.

Why Go: Hear the best voices of Gospel with Bishop Larry D. Trotter's Sweet Holy Spirit Choir and praise dancers from throughout Lake County at Shelter B of the Greenbelt Forest Preserve. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Food will be available for purchase.This event is free and open to all ages. If it rains, the festival will be held indoors.

Where/When: ; 7:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30; 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31.

Why Go: 's Big Deal Productions presents its summer musical, "The Wedding Singer," based on the movie of the same name that features music from the '80s.

Pricing: $15 in advance; $18 at the door

Where/When: ; 1 - 3 p.m.; Friday, July 29.

Why Go: Kids in grades 6 - 8 are invited to bring some friends and join in this cooking competition. Each team will be given a bag of ingredients and will have one hour to prepare the best 3-course meal for a picnic outing. There will be prizes for the winners. Please call the library at 847-459-4100 to register.

5.

Where/When: ; 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Sunday, July 31.

Why Go: Shop the great assortment of fresh produce, flowers, meats and cheeses from local farmers and vendors. The farmers market will take place, rain or shine, in front of the Spray 'N Play.
