Get Out: Farmers Market Raffle, Medieval Faire

Where/When: ; Friday, August 5.

Why Go: Bring your blankets and head out to for to watch Tangled under the stars at the park district's 54 acre theatre with a 40 foot screen and surround sound. Open seating is guaranteed. The movies will begin when it is dark. Pack a picnic or purchase concessions. If it rains, the movie will be postponed until August 11.

Where/When: Viper Alley; 8:30 - 10 p.m., Saturday, August 6.

Why Go: This Concert for a Cause will feature Borrowed Time, a rock and blues jam band. Raffle and silent auction. A portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales, silent auction and raffle will go to The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. 60,000 children and adults in Illinois are affected by these diseases. Where/When: in Palatine; 8 - 9 p.m., Friday, August 5.

Why Go: Enjoy a live, outdoor performance by Jimy Sohns' Rock 'n Roll Side Show. Jimy Sohns is the original frontman from Shadows of the Knight who were made famous with the release of their legendary rock anthem Gloria in 1966. The Shadows guitarist Mike Gotshall is part of the side show as well, along with vocalist and keyboardist Cindy Gotshall. Sure to be an amazing show. Pack a picnic and a lawn chair. (If it rains, the concert will be cancelled.)

Why Go: Celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program at this fun-filled festival for the entire family. See a demonstration of Medieval European Swordsmanship by the Chicago Swordplay Guild. Enjoy food, face painting, balloon sculptures and a falconer. Please call the library at 847-459-4100 to register.

Where/When: , in front of the Spray 'n Play; 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Sunday, August 7.

Why Go: Shop the great assortment of fresh produce, flowers, meats and cheeses from local farmers and vendors. Also, as a this week, celebrate National Farmers Market Week with a free raffle for a huge gift basket full of items from the Buffalo Grove Farmers Market vendors and kids' contests for prizes. The farmers market will take place, rain or shine.
