Update: Deerfield Road to Close for Construction

A stretch of Deerfield Road was originally scheduled be closed from April 15-19. Flooding has delayed the construction.

Updated April 23:

The contractor is expected to return to finish the culvert crossing and reopen Deerfield Road by the evening of April 26, according to an update from the Lake County Division of Transportation.

The smaller culvert under Hoffman Lane will be worked during the week of April 29. Residents on Hoffman Lane will be asked to use the entrance off of Portwine Road while this work is in progress. Deerfield Road may have minor delays as trucks and equipment enter or leave the work zone.

Jasmine Lane will be finished following some unforeseen underground cable relocation by the utility company. This work will also have minor delays to Deerfield Road as trucks and equipment enter or leave the work zone.

"We appreciate the patience of motorists and others in the area who have been impacted by this prolonged closure and detour due to these unusual circumstances," the county said in its update.

Updated April 20: The construction project has been extended due to flooding on the roadway.

"The contractor cannot safely continue until water levels go down. Once dates are known they will be made available with another update," the Lake County Division of Transportation announced April 18.

The signed detour route for this closure will continue to be Illinois Route 21/Milwaukee Avenue to Lake-Cook Road to Saunders Road, Lake County Route W-24.

Previously:

Deerfield Road will be closed between Milwaukee Avenue and Saunders Road beginning at 7 a.m. April 15.

The road is scheduled to reopen the evening of April 19. A culvert will be installed east of Juneberry Road while the road is closed.

During that time, drivers will be detoured to Lake-Cook Road.
