ComEd: Power Could Be Out For Days

Widespread storms on June 21 left thousands without power.

The first day of summer wasn't what everyone expected it to be.

Torrential rainfalls combined with high force winds tore through Buffalo Grove and much of the Chicago area Tuesday evening. According to a Commonwealth Edison spokesperson, 278,000 people across Chicagoland are without power as of 6 a.m. today (Wednesday).

The Northern suburbs were hit the hardest by the outages with 188,000 homes in the dark. ComEd crews are working around the clock to restore power, but due to the extent of the damage representatives said that could take multiple days to fix.
