Buffalo Grove Mail Carrier Found Murdered

Gurolla held part-time position for seven years

A part-time Buffalo Grove mail carrier was found murdered at his Oak Park home this morning (Sept. 9), police said.

Police this afternoon remained on the scene where Pedro Gurolla Jr. was found beaten to death in the garage behind his home.

Gurolla, 41, was in the garage around 6:45 a.m. when someone struck in the back of the head, killing him, police said.

More than three hours had passed before his wife discovered his body and dialed 911.

His vehicle, a red or maroon 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, was stolen from the garage.  The vehicle's license plate reads 8479360, police said.

Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley said investigators "don't believe this was a random act." 

"We don't think the community has cause for fear," he said. 

Gurolla was employed as a part-time mailman in the U.S. Postal Service's Buffalo Grove office for the past seven years, a USPS spokesperson said.
