Wheeling Wildcat Marching Band Season Ends On a High Note

The Wheeling High School “Wildcat” Marching Band has ended its successful season showcasing the music of jazz-rock trumpet player, Bill Chase. The season started with the “Wildcats” winning “Best Music,” “Best General Effect,” and placing 3rd overall at the Lake Park Lancer Joust. They continued their success at their Chicagoland Marching Band Festival (CMBF) with the highest scores in class “AA.” The season continued with the Wildcats earning the Grand Champion title at the Wheaton North Festival, along with Best Drum Majors, Best Music, Visual, and General Effect. The Wildcats concluded its competitive season at the Marengo Settlers Day Festival, where they won Grand Champion, 1st place for Parade & Field Show for Class “AAA”, Best Auxiliary, Brass, Woodwinds, and Marching. 

Solo appearances in the field show include Ronny Roth (trumpet), Tegan Reschke (dance), Patrick Ryan (trumpet), Kyle Meier (guitar), Cesar Mendoza, Bryan Marban, Anthony Gonzales (trombone), Mathew Kulczak (flute), Eugene Yakubovich (tenor sax), and Paul Wagner (bari saxophone).  The Marching Band Staff includes Brian Logan, director of bands, Emily Malamud (Assistant Band Director), Stephanie Melinyshyn (Color Guard), Brian Spicer and Jena Spaulding (Percussion), Pete Weber (Visual Design), and J. T. Teichert (Arranger).
