Wheeling High School Students Perform the Bard's Monologues

Wheeling High School senior Celine Dirkes is the winner of her school’s Shakespeare competition. The event was part of the 2014 English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition, a performance-based education program in which high school students nationwide read, analyze, perform and recite Shakespearean monologues and sonnets. Dirkes impressed the judges and captivated the audience with her performance of Hamlet’s monologue from the eponymous play. She now will represent her school at the local ESU Chicago Branch Competition, and the winner will be awarded an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City for the National Competition.
