District 214 Presents Its 2014 Honors Music Festival

            Township High School District 214's 2014 Honors Music Festival will be presented on Thursday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Forest View Educational Center Field House in Arlington Heights. The concert will include the finest musical talent from all six high schools—Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, John Hersey, Prospect, Rolling Meadows, and Wheeling. 

            Featured on the program are the district's Honors Choir conducted by guest conductor Dr. Karyl K. Carlson, director of choral activities at Illinois State University; Honors Orchestra conducted by Joshua Stewart, director of orchestra at John Hersey High School; Honors Band conducted by guest conductor Steve Eggleston, professor of music at Illinois Wesleyan University, and the winner of this year's District 214 Concerto Competition, guitarist Peter Pendowski of Elk Grove High School.

            Edward Jacobi, Jr., director of bands at Buffalo Grove High School, is the Honors Band Coordinator, and Ron Fiorito, director of bands at Elk Grove High School, is the Honors Orchestra Winds and Percussion Coordinator.

            Band directors at District 214 schools include Jacobi (BGHS); Fiorito (EGHS); Scott Casagrande (JHHS); Chris Barnum (PHS); Christopher Buti (RMHS); and Brian Logan (WHS).

            Choral directors are Debora Utley (BGHS); Sarah Catt (EGHS); Sara Michael (JHHS); Jennifer Troiano and Robert Shellard (PHS); Caitlyn Walsh (RMHS); and Stephen Colella (WHS).

            Orchestra directors are Elizabeth Bennett (BGHS); Bill Baar (EGHS); Joshua Stewart (JHHS); Peter Weber  (PHS); Kevin Carroll (RMHS); and Sarah Struebing (WHS).  

            Forest View Educational Center is located at 2121 S. Goebbert Rd. in Arlington Heights. The admission-free concert is open to the public. There will be an opportunity to order a $15 CD recording of the performance. Forms will be available at the concert or by contacting the Fine Arts Coordinator, Jeremy Morton, at 847.718.365.
