Tuba Player from Hersey Wins District 214 Honors Orchestra/Aria Competition

John Hersey High School senior tuba player, Serena Voltz, was selected as the 1st place

     John Hersey High School senior tuba player, Serena Voltz, was selected as the 1st place winner of this year's District 214 Honors Orchestra Concerto/Aria Competition at Forest View Educational Center on Nov. 19.  Voltz will perform Edward Gregson's Tuba Concerto, Movt. 1 with the Honors Orchestra at the District 214 Honors Music Festival this coming March.  

     Voltz was selected from six exceptional musicians at the concerto/aria recital.  Second place went to Hersey senior violin player, Roya Zandi, and 3rd place to Buffalo Grove clarinet player, Peter Kotecki.

     Congratulations are also in order for all of the other students selected to perform in the recital: Buffalo Grove High School piano player, Laleh Omaraie; Prospect High School vocalist, Caitlin Claytor; and Hersey violinist, Kyle Chung.
