An outstanding student has been selected from each academic division at Buffalo Grove High School to be honored as the April 2013 Student of the Month.

Junior Richard Gumirov of Buffalo Grove was nominated as the honoree of the Career Technology Education department by business teacher, Tom Mroz. "Ricky is taking the lead role in college accounting this year," said Mroz. "Fellow accountants look to Ricky for advice and recommendations on their journal entries, since his debits always equal his credits.  He is an asset to his class!"

The World Languages/Social Sciences/English Language Learners division has chosen sophomore Jessica Ahon of Arlington Heights.  English Language Learners (ELL) teacher Stephanie Ramos said, Jessica has consistently been a 'super star' since the start of the school year.  She works very hard to do well in her studies and is always self-driven.  She is respectful to her teachers and all of her peers. Freshman Jessica Rosenberg of Arlington Heights is the Math/Science honoree.  Science teacher Sindi Smith said, "Jessica is the most motivated and dedicated student I have in Biology class.  She goes above and beyond to research topics in science that interest her and then gives me copies of her research to use in the classroom.  She comes to class every day ready to learn and goes above and beyond helping other students in class.  Jessica contributes meaningfully to every classroom discussion and works hard each and every day to excel in the class."

Student Services has named junior Abigail Lopez of Buffalo Grove as Student of the Month.  Individual Resource teacher Chris VanGrondelle commented, " Abby is conscientious, hard working and is always willing to help those in need.  Her teachers look to Abby to help others get caught up if they are behind, or to assist in an explanation when students need to hear a different voice.  Abby has aspirations to be a counselor for elementary age students and really enjoys the challenges associated with them.  She is stepping up to the world of Advanced Placement classes for her senior year."
