Administrative Appointments Approved by District 214 School Board

                  The Township High School District 214 Board of Education recently approved several administrative appointments. Kate Kraft, associate principal for operations at Wheeling High School, has been appointed to director of Vanguard School; Angela M. Ginnan, dean of students at Stevenson High School, has been appointed to associate principal for operations at Wheeling High School; Robert Murphy, business education instructor at John Hersey High School, is now the assistant principal for student activities at Elk Grove High School; and Jeffrey Bott, technology education teacher at Wheeling High School, is the division head for Career Technical Education at Buffalo Grove High School. All appointments are effective immediately.  

                  Kraft brings a wealth of experience to her role as director of Vanguard School, where her responsibilities will include involvement in the Young Adult Program. She joined District 214 in 2009 as an associate principal for operations at Elk Grove High School and two years later moved to Wheeling High School in the same position. Prior to joining the school district, Kraft served as associate principal for student services at Grayslake North High School, student activity director and English teacher at Deerfield High School, and English teacher at Park Junior High School in LaGrange. Kraft has a master's degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University and a bachelor's degree in English from Augustana College.

            Ginnan began her educational career nine years ago as a school social work intern at Prospect High School. In 2007 she worked as a social worker at Glenbard East High School and at Stevenson High School two years later. She was appointed to dean of students in 2011. Ginnan has a master's of education degree in Leadership and Administration from Benedictine University, a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Ohio State University.

            Murphy has spent his entire teaching career at John Hersey High School. He began in 2007 as a business education instructor and has served as the head girls’ golf coach, junior varsity softball coach, DECA Business Club sponsor, Irish Heritage Club sponsor, and Orange Crush director.  He has a master's degree in Business Education from Roosevelt University and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa.

            A veteran educator, Bott began his career teaching technology education at Maine West High School in 2001. One year later he joined Wheeling High School as a tech-ed teacher, where he also served as an assistant coach for girls and boys soccer. In addition to supporting the FIRST robotics and Battle Bot programs as an assistant robotics coach, Bott is a certified Project Lead the Way instructor and a certified learning behavior specialist. He has a master's degree in Teacher Leadership from Roosevelt University, and a bachelor's degree in Technology Education from Illinois State University.
