2014 Winter Parenting Classes Open to Area Parents
Just as Township High School District 214 is committed to educating students, it also is committed to helping parents navigate and respond appropriately to their children’s growth and development. To that end, registration is open to all area parents interested in the school district’s winter lecture and discussion series, “What Every Parent Needs to Know.” The four-part course will take place on February 11, 18, 25, and March 4 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at John Hersey High School, 1900 E. Thomas St. in Arlington Heights.
The lecture and discussion series will help parents anticipate and prevent problems proactively, develop mutually respectful relationships, explore fair discipline, maintain effective communication, and use productive problem-solving methods with their children. Bob Leece, student assistance coordinator at Buffalo Grove High School, and Martha Messer, retired school nurse from John Hersey High School, have trained thousands of parents over the past 15 years.
The registration fee is $15.00 per person for the series and is due at the first class. Cash or check payable to Hersey High School is acceptable. In order to provide the best possible environment, registration is limited to 100 parents. The course is popular and fills up quickly, so parents are encouraged to register now by contacting Paula Volpe at paula.volpe@d214.org or 847-718-4947.
