What Should Replace Dominick's in Buffalo Grove?

Safeway, the parent company of Dominick's, announced last week that it will sell all 72 of its Chicago-area Dominick's stores.

That includes the three in Buffalo Grove, located in shopping centers at the northwest corner of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads, the southeast corner of Lake-Cook and Arlington Heights roads and the northeast corner of Buffalo Grove Road and Route 22.

Around the Chicago area, competitor Jewel-Osco has already purchased four of the Dominick's stores, including one in Glenview, according to the Chicago TribuneMeanwhile, Cincinnati-based Kroger and Milwaukee-based Roundy's (owner of Chicago's Mariano's grocery stores) have expressed interest in purchasing several Dominick's, Crain's reports.

Besides Mariano's (which has stores in Vernon Hills, Palatine and Arlington Heights and is opening one in Skokie by 2015), another newcomer to the Chicago area market is Cleveland-based Heinen's Fine Foods, which has one location in Barrington and another coming to Glenview.

More locally, a Fresh Farms grocery store is on its way to Buffalo Grove, which is already home to Jewel and Aldi.

What would you like to see in place of each of the three Dominick's stores in Buffalo Grove? Do you hope they are replaced with grocery stores, or is there another business you'd like to see in those locations? Tell us in the comment section below.
