Personal Training, Fitness Facility Coming to Buffalo Grove

EPIC Power & Conditioning, a CrossFit affiliate, received approval to move into Buffalo Grove's industrial district.

Another new fitness facility is on its way to Buffalo Grove.

Village trustees on Monday approved a special use permit that will allow EPIC Power & Conditioning to operate at 1620 Barclay Blvd. Husband-and-wife team Joshua and Heather Refenes will offer “small group fitness training to the general public,” they explained in a letter to village officials.

The business, which currently operates in Deerfield, is a CrossFit training facility that combines powerlifting, mobility training, high intensity interval training, Olympic weightlifting plyometrics and gymnastics movements. Classes will be capped at 10 students, the owners said, and they currently average just two.

A special use permit was required because the building is zoned for industrial use.
