Buffalo Grove to Consider Garden Fresh Liquor License Request

The grocery store plans to take over one of the village's former Dominick's sites.

Plans for a Garden Fresh grocery store in Buffalo Grove are moving forward.

Village trustees are scheduled to vote on the store’s request for a liquor license at their Jan. 6 board meeting. At the same time, they will cancel the liquor licenses for two of the village’s closed Dominick’s stores.

Garden Fresh Market officials filed paperwork with the village in mid-December indicating the company planned to take over the Dominick’s space in The Plaza shopping center at the northwest corner of Dundee and Buffalo Grove roads.

That Dominick’s, along with dozens of others in the Chicago area, closed for good on Dec. 28.

If the liquor license is granted next week, Garden Fresh will have until April 6 to complete the village’s requirements for it, though the ordinance allows for an extension by the village manager “for good cause shown.”
