Buffalo Grove Starbucks Moving to Wheeling

Buffalo Grove will lose one of its Starbucks locations in the coming months when the coffee shop in The Grove shopping center, 55 N. McHenry Road, relocates to a newly constructed building in Wheeling.

The Buffalo Grove location, which opened in 1994, will move to Lexington Commons Plaza, at the southeast corner of Lake-Cook Road and Lexington Drive, Manager Roxy Silivestru said.

She said an exact closing date for the Buffalo Grove shop has not been set, but she expects it to move at the end of 2013 or beginning of 2014.

“It’s a better location,” Silivestru said of the site that’s under construction in Wheeling. “To get in and out of this location is really hard.”

She said the new store will be under her management, and Buffalo Grove customers can expect to find the same baristas at the new location.

The new Starbucks, which will include a drive-thru, will be built at the site of a women’s healthcare center that was recently demolished. It will occupy about half of a new 4,000-square-foot building, according to records from the Village of Wheeling. The building’s second tenant has not yet been determined.
