Brunswick's Gives 'Boost to Buffalo Grove'

The new facility, which offers bowling, laser tag, arcade games and food and drinks in an upscale setting, opened Tuesday in the Town Center shopping center.

Brunswick has introduced its newest entertainment center to Buffalo Grove.

The facility, which is simply called Brunswick’s, is an upscale, modernized version of a bowling alley. In addition to 32 lanes with sofa seating areas, it boasts a full-service Tavern ’45 restaurant with a full bar, a Chicago-themed laser tag arena and a 10,000-square-foot arcade. It opened Tuesday to the public.

The facility is “for everyone,” said Brunswick Bowling President Jim Fox, but he said he expects it to draw an adult crowd.

“I think at night it’s going to be much more adult. We’re going to make the environment more adult,” he said. For example, he said, in the evening the music will be more geared to adult listeners.

Fox, who lives in Long Grove, said the company has been looking to open a center in this area for years. He was among a number of Brunswick officials who unveiled the facility to an invitation-only crowd of community leaders Monday night.

Lynne Schneider, executive director of the Buffalo Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, was among the guests at the event.

“I think it’s going to be a boost to Buffalo Grove. Brunswick’s got a good name and a good following,” she said.

Brunswick overhauled the center, which was previously occupied by eSkape Entertainment Center, installing new bowling lanes, building a new laser tag arena and creating a new arcade. Although the amenities are similar to those offered by eSkape, Schneider said she expects name recognition to make a difference.

“A lot of people came to eSkape, but if you’re going through the Yellow Pages looking for a bowling alley, you’re going to go to Brunswick,” she said.

Looking out at the bowling lanes, she praised the urban décor.

“It looks beautiful. They did a great job with it. I think it’s going to make it,” she said.

Brunwick’s is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. It's located at 350 McHenry Road, at the north end of the Town Center shopping center.

Bowling is $25 per hour Monday through Thursday and before 5 p.m. Friday. The hourly rate is $35 after 5 p.m. on Friday, as well as on Saturday and Sunday. Shoe rental is $4 per person.
