Buffalo Grove resident Robyn Shulman is offering a deal to job hunters. Through her new business, Max My Career Consulting, she will review a resume and provide five tips for improvement for $5. The half-price offer is valid through the end of the year.

Want to help out a nonprofit while you shop? Check out the District 214 Community Education Foundation’s online auction, which begins at 6 p.m. Nov. 24 and runs through Dec. 4. Items, which will be sold through eBay, include sporting event tickets, hotel stays, golf packages, autographed pictures of celebrities and more. Auction proceeds will benefit programs such as English as a Second Language for adults, the Women's & Children’s Center, Kids on Track, Adult Education & Family Literacy, Adult Basic Education, cultural and performing arts and intergenerational programs.

Meanwhile, 's foundation will benefit from online purchases after shoppers sign up for the Create Excitement for Public Schools program, which sends exclusive deals via email. A portion of online purchases at places such as Amazon.com and Groupon will be returned to the Stevenson Foundation to benefit its Kids in Need fund and Innovation Grant program.
