Stevenson Dance Event Benefits Medical Research

Sunday's DancEd performance will raise money for RTH research.

Dancers from Northbrook's school will perform at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at to benefit the Lacey Horwitch Research Fund. The foundation raises money to support research for RTH, a rare genetic thyroid disease.

is an 8-year-old from Northbrook who has RTH as well as a serious immune disorder. and is currently being treated at Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago. 

Tickets for DancEd's performance, which are $10, can be purchased at  before the event or at Stevenson High School on Sunday.

, owned by the Schlan family, will sell bagels and cream cheese and customized ballet slipper cookies.

All proceeds will go to the Lacey Horwitch Research Fund.

“It’s a worthwhile event, rallying our community for a great cause,” Lester Schlan said. “We hope that our participation helps.”

DancEd is also holding an online auction to raise money for the research fund in Lacey's honor. Go to www.ebay.com and search for "Lacey Horwitch" in order to bid on items including Cubs tickets, vacations and gift certificates, with proceeds benefiting the research fund.
