Robert Hicks, author of Widow of the South, hosts Vernon Area Library's One Book, One Community read as part of the national initiative to bring people in a community together through reading and discussing a common book. He will read from his book and sign copies. The Lake Forest Book Store will be selling copies of his book at the event.
Widow of the South was chosen to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War. More than 80 copies were purchased with a donation from the Friends of the Vernon Hills Public Library and are available to check out.
