About Colonel Itzhak “Izzy” Assour, Curator of “Expressions”: “When I was growing up on a kibbutz, the teacher of art would come and teach us. I was never very interested. But in the army I was shot and wounded. In and out of the hospital for three and a half years and during recuperation, I developed an interest in art.”

After Colonel Assour retired, he developed an interest in touring Israeli art. “All that Israel is known for is war and soldiers with guns. I wanted to show the other part of us”. After sharing the concept with the Israeli government, he received full backing. In addition to being the show Curator, Colonel Assour is also a sculptor.
