Crowds Brave The Heat At Art Fest

Art lovers braved the heat wave temperatures at Buffalo Grove's Invitational Art Festival.

Art lovers braved 90-degree-plus temperatures to peruse jewelry, paintings, photography and ceramics Sunday at the .

With the and event sponsor Amdur Productions providing much-needed free water and misting stations, modest-sized crowds braved the oven-like temperatures as they checked out the work of 162 artists.

“This is really hot,” said Wynne Baruch of Buffalo Grove, who wore a cowboy hat as protection from the sun. “But there are some great artists here.”

To avoid the hottest time of the day, many fest attendees said they arrived early or planned to stay for a short while. Frosty water bottles competed with sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats as must-have fashion items of the day.
