Congregation Beth Am Hosts Israeli Art Exhibit

"Expressions" show runs from Dec. 10-13.

, in partnership with the State of Israel, will present fine art paintings, sculptures, unique handmade ceramics, jewelry and Judaica from Israel, Ethiopia and Russia from Dec. 10-13.

Sponsored by the Israeli government since 1985, the “Expressions” show features the works of 75 artists from Israel as well as Russia, Ethiopia, France, Yemen and England. Exhibition pieces include works from Agam, Ebgi, Meisler, Yacov and Baruch Sketsiar.  

The show begins with an opening night preview from 8-10 p.m. Dec. 10 at Congregation Beth Am. Reservations are required to attend the preview. To reserve a spot, call Bob Yaffe at 847-459-1677.

The show is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 11 and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 12 and 13.

Admission is $5. Parking is free.

The exhibit is curated by Col. Itzhak “Izzy” Assour, a sculptor who developed an interest in touring Israeli art after he retired.

“All that Israel is known for is war and soldiers with guns. I wanted to show the other part of us,” he said in a statement.
