Whiz Kid: Kaitlin Feely

Patch Whiz Kid of the Week

Name: Kaitlin Feely, 12

School:

Accomplishment: Kaitlin has a musical gift. After first seeing the show Wicked, Kaitlin performed “Defying Gravity” during the Buffalo Grove Idol Junior Competition in 2007, taking home 1st prize. In 2008, at the age of 10, Kaitlin was offered the role of Jane Banks in Disney’s National Broadway Tour of Mary Poppins. In order to perform in this tour, Kaitlin would have had to leave school for five months and the summer. She decided to give up this opportunity to stay in Buffalo Grove with her family and friends, enjoying a more typical childhood. She has been performing nonstop since as an active member of the Buffalo Grove Performing Arts program, playing lead roles such as Annie in Annie Junior and Small Alice in Alice in Wonderland Junior. This past summer, she played the part of JoJo in the adult production of Seussical at .

Key to Awesomeness: Kaitlin Feely sure does defy gravity! Even though Kaitlin is a talented singer, she also enjoys other activities. She is known for her speed on the soccer field and excels in academics, a straight “A” seventh-grade student. She is a member of the Children's Choir at in Buffalo Grove where you will find her occasionally as a cantor for the 11:30 a.m. Mass. She has also used her vocal talents for special events like singing the National Anthem for the BG Singers' productions and performing in a charity event for the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. Kaitlin is a kid who just enjoys life and believes in doing her best in whatever she does. She enjoys entertaining people and making them happy. While she doesn't know which direction her music will take her, she does know that music will always be a part of her life.
