A number of Buffalo Grove streets were under water Wednesday morning and around 1,000 residents were without power, after nearly four inches of rain fell in the village overnight.

As of 11:30 a.m., ComEd’s outage map indicated four customers remained without power, but the aftermath of the storm continues to affect the village in other ways.

A public works crew is working to clear the streets and mitigate flooding. If the rain forecasted for later today falls, official expect the Buffalo Creek Reservoir to overflow, creating additional problems, the village said in a press release.

Closed streets include:

  • Arlington Heights Road at Dundee Road (partial closure)
  • St. Mary’s Parkway west of Raupp Boulevard
  • Mary Lu Lane north of St. Mary’s Parkway, where nine residents were evacuated this morning.
  • Raupp Boulevard south of Lake-Cook Road to Bernard Drive
  • Deerfield Parkway at Glenn Knolls (partial closure)

A number of other residential streets in the Cook County side of the village are either partially or entirely closed.

Flood water had infiltrated the lower level of Buffalo Grove’s Village Hall this morning, and phone, Internet and network connectivity was “spotty,” officials reported at 10 a.m.

Residents in need of sand bags can pick them up from the Public Service Center at 51 Raupp Boulevard.

Residents should call 911 to report emergencies. Anyone with a question or who needs non-emergency assistance should call Village Hall at (847) 459-2500.
