Dressed in traditional, red, five-piece suits, more than 2,000 Santas sprinted, strolled and skipped through the streets of downtown Arlington Heights for the Fifth Annual Rotary Santa Run Saturday morning.
A record number of participants signed up to go ho-ho-hopping to help raise money for the local and global charities the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights sponsors.
Of the 2,012 runners, Rich Daubert of Arlington Heights was the first to cross the finish line with a time of 16:33.6. Jennifer Benitez of Carol Stream was to first woman to complete the 5K with a time of 20:27.6.
Buffalo Grove runners had a presence in the race, too, with 14-year-old Jared Borowsky placing fourth overall with a time of 16:51:1.
