Interim Safety Changes at Lake Arlington Have Begun

By Melanie Santostefano

The Arlington Heights Park District sent out a message Friday stating that interim safety changes to the path at Lake Arlington have already begun.

The steps were proposed days after the death of 76-year-old Arlington Heights resident Barbara Pagano. On June 18, she waswalking the trail when a bicyclist hit her from behind. She sustained serious head injuries and died on July 3

"Please be aware that Park District staff will continue adding new path markings and signage throughout the next several days," the communication from the park district states. "Weather permitting we hope to have completed the interim action plan to upgrade signage and path markings by the end of July."

Despite the modifications, the path will reportedly remain open during the changes.
