Pumpkin Hunt Kicks Off Halloween at Raupp Museum
Children and parents g0t into the spooky spirit at the Buffalo Grove Park District's annual event.
About 15 youngsters – some of them in costume — and their parents got an early start on Halloween Saturday at the ’s Great Pumpkin Hunt and Decoration Bash.
On a near cloudless fall day, the children, with their parents in tow, searched the museum grounds for hidden plastic pumpkins.
Later, they swapped their bounty for real pumpkins, which they decorated with paint, markers and paper on the cobblestone street of the museum’s Town Square Gallery.

Recreation Supervisor Erika Strojinc said the Pumpkin Hunt and Bash is an annual event, although this year, officials decided to add painting.
“We thought it would be a fun element to add to the event,” she said.

The participants seemed to agree as they patiently sat at three tables in the museum’s gallery, which is set up as a replica of the commercial area of the village more than 100 years ago.
When it came time to decorate the pumpkins, parents jumped right in, mixing colored paints and drawing outlines for their kids to color on the faces of pumpkins.
