The Dirty Girl Mud Run, with its mud pits and other obstacles, returned to the Lake County Fairgrounds June 29-30.
The Chicago-area Dirty Girl Mud Run was the first of the series. This year, there will be about 60 of these events across the country, all held to raise money for breast cancer charities.
Stephanie Gomory, event organizer, said the Dirty Girl Mud Run organization expects to donate $300,000 to breast cancer charities this year.
