Community Heroin Awareness Forum Set for Nov. 12

The public is invited to attend this informational event Monday night at Vernon Hills High School.

Parents, students and community members are invited to attend an “Understanding Suburban Heroin Use” forum from 7-8:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Vernon Hills High School. 

Panelists will include Robert Crown Center for Health educator Joan Drummond Olson, Rush University Medical Center’s Dr. Celeste Napier, Lake County Coroner Artis Yancey, a parent and a recovering teen. The discussion will be moderated by Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran.

The forum is sponsored by high school districts 125 (Stevenson), 214 (Buffalo Grove and Wheeling) and 128 (Vernon Hills), as well as the Robert Crown Center, Congressman Robert Dold’s office and the Lake County Regional Office of Education.

Community treatment providers will provide resource information before and after the discussion. 

The event will take place in the VHHS auditorium, 145 N. Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.
