“U.S. News and World Report” Names Radford Green at Sedgebrook One of The Best Nursing Homes

Radford Green at Sedgebrook in Lincolnshire has been reported as being one of the best nursing homes by “U.S. News and World Report” in 2014. This distinction is given to only the top nursing homes, providing high quality and attentive care.

Five-star rated Radford Green Health Care and Rehabilitation is located on the 92-acre campus of Sedgebrook, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Lincolnshire, Illinois.

“U.S. News and World Report” is a leading provider of service news and information that focuses on important and relevant issues. The study on nursing homes was undertaken as “U.S. News and World Report” acknowledges their important role in society. In the report they explained, “On any given morning this year, roughly 1.4 million individuals including one in every 34 individuals 65 and older will wake up in a U.S. nursing home. We want to help families find a good and caring facility for those they cherish.”

The designation of the top nursing homes was made as “U.S. News and World Report” collected data from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which sets and enforces standards for nursing homes. Ratings are based on the absence or low incidence of deficiencies in state-conducted health inspections.

“U.S. News” reported on nearly 16,000 nursing homes across the country. Only 3,867 received an overall five-star rating. In Illinois, only 21.9 percent achieved this rating. In the Chicago metropolitan area, Radford Green was one of only 85 out of 398 nursing homes receiving the overall=five-star rating from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
