Still Time to Sign up for Marklund's 5k/1 Mile Fundraiser

Attention runners, walkers and adaptive athletes: There is still time to register for Marklund’s 1st Annual Run, Walk & Roll 5K and 1 Mile event held Sunday, Oct. 27 in Geneva! Marklund is a not-for-profit organization specializing in the care of children and adults with severe disabilities.

The race will kick off at 7:50 a.m. for the racing wheelchair division and 8 a.m. for all others. The USATF-certified course will start and finish at the Marklund Hyde Center and wind throughout the Mill Creek neighborhood adjacent to Marklund’s Geneva campus.  Those in wheelchairs can propel themselves or request other participants push them along the course.

“We really wanted to host an event that welcomed individuals of ALL abilities.  From people celebrating finishing the Chicago marathon…to children and adults in wheelchairs or who might need extra assistance,” stated Heather Graves, Chief Development Officer at Marklund. “This is a true community event, and everyone is welcome!”
