The Start of Another Baseball Season

Memories from the start of a new youth baseball season.

It's early May, so we've now seen the first two weeks of the BGRA season for 2011. Week one was challenging, thanks to some real iffy weather. Got in the games for Opening Day, April 25, and only one or two on Day two. Then the rain hit! Lost a bunch of games the rest of the week, but got back on track for the weekend.

Week Two was better, but as I sit here on Saturday afternoon, the skies are darkening and the rain is starting. I spent 6 years as the Stallion League Director, and these were the Saturdays I dreaded. A full day of games scheduled, and the rain was just going to get us backed up.

I have to admit, I love youth baseball. I love seeing the little ones in their uniforms, running around after the ball. The T-Ball players hitting the ball, then not knowing where to run or when to stop. As they get older, they learn. My kids played from age 5 into high school, and now it's hard to remember them back in T-Ball.

Lot's of great memories for me, and for them too.  The kids that are playing now - they're building great memories!
