Help Dress the SHS Band

Community members are being asked to help fund new uniforms for the Stevenson High School marching band.

After more than 20 years, the Stevenson High School marching band is ready for a new look.

The musicians plan to retire their heavy, wool uniforms in exchange for new ones made from a lighter, machine washable material.

But the conversion will come at a cost. The SHS Band Parents Organization is running a drive to help cover the cost of 400 new uniforms. Each uniform costs $350, according to its website. The price includes “uniform design, label, pants, jacket and shako (hat),” according to the site.

The organization is asking businesses, organizations and individuals to donate money toward the effort. Those who contribute $350 will have their name sewn on a label inside a uniform jacket. Donations of lesser amounts are also welcome.
