District 21 State of the Schools Program Begins Tuesday

Learn about what students in School District 21's elementary and middle schools are learning and accomplishing.

School District 21 will kick off its annual State of the Schools program Tuesday. Three presentations this month, centered this year on, “A Celebration of Student Learning,” will give community members the chance to hear from students about their learning and growth, and celebrate the achievements made in the schools every day.

“Students in District 21 today are asked to think critically, apply their learning to new situations, and then be reflective about their learning process,” Superintendent Kate Hyland said. “Through the State of the Schools events, we can showcase our students’ achievements and offer the community a glimpse into what’s happening in our classrooms every day.”

Each event will feature different musical performances and showcase various language arts, math, science, social science and integrated learning lessons that the students have worked on over the past year. Students will share what they have learned, how they learned it, and how it connects to learning standards and to the world around them.
